Minerva Medical

Overview

Minerva Medical is a medical application for a project in ICS 414 at UH Manoa. The goal of this project is to create and provide an application that keeps track of supply inventory for the Hawaii Homeless and Medical Outreach Project H.O.M.E, who helps provide medical care to residents around the island by means of a mobile clinic. Our team hopes to create a suitable application that not only assists the staff at Hawaii H.O.M.E, but also assists in providing a smoother patient experience. You can view our client’s website and goal here.

Goal of the Application

This application will keep track of inventory for items such as medications, vaccinations, lab tests/supplies, and patient supplies. We also intend for the application to keep patient medical records up to date with any vaccine or medication history. An example of this is the displaying of vaccine information on a patients medical chart if they have received that vaccine. We also have the goal of providing the location of each item in the mobile clinic’s inventory so that staff are able to easily access products. After completion, we hope to have the staff at Medical Outreach Clinic utilize this application in addition to their medical records application Athena to provide a smoother experience for both the staff and the patients.

Contributions

Throughout the project I worked on both the frontend and the backend of the application. On the top are examples of things I have worked on in this project. On the left is the notification system letting users and admin know how much a medication/vaccine/supply is currently on low stock or out stock and they can go to the inventory status page to take a closer look. The next image is the inventory status page and this was my main job of developing the application as our client wanted a database system where they can view their current supply easily compared to the google sheets they have been using. What I’ve done in this page was the entire filtering system which includes the search bar, dropdowns, and records of medications that can be viewed. After that I’ve worked on the UI/UX of displaying the medication with the status symbols, the layout of viewing. Lastly on this page was deleting individual lotIds if one medication has expired or the quantity of it ran out. On the last image, I’ve done the same work like I did in the inventory status to the dispense log to match the UI/UX. This project have further developed my skills in project management with functional programming and data management and making me take a step forward in my career as a software engineer.
